It’s time for a community stewardship day in the Lower Bear Creek watershed! Join Groundwork Denver and the City of Sheridan on Saturday September 20th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for a great volunteer project on the Lower Bear Creek. We’ll start at Bobcat Park in Sheridan and work our way east towards the Bear Creek’s confluence with the South Platte River (about a mile long section of the creek).
Volunteers are asked to meet at Bobcat Park at 8:45am on Saturday morning for breakfast (bagels, fruit, juice, coffee) and a short orientation to prepare for the project. Work tasks will include: trash pick-up along the bike/walking trail and creek, chain link removal from trees along the creek, dead tree carry-out, and other work TBD. At the conclusion of the project volunteers will return back to Bobcat Park for lunch and socializing.
This event is a great way to meet fellow community members, trail patrons, and creek stakeholders. It also provides opportunities for participants to learn how they can help to keep the creek and the trail clean for use by both people and wildlife.
