Hello everyone! Groundwork Denver is please to say that we had yet another successful MLK Day of Service Neighborhood Energy Action event last Monday January 20th! A big THANK YOU is in order for all those who came out to the Clayton neighborhood and helped us reach out to residents and offer them tools and resources to make their homes more energy efficient and less negatively impacting on the environment.
We had a turn out of 86 volunteers added in to the Groundwork Denver staff and Green Team bringing the participation total over 100! Volunteers helped swap out 175 light bulbs, sign up 76 households for free recycling, 73 households for low-cost trees, and had 68 households interested in receiving a free energy audit from Groundwork Denver throughout the Clayton and Swansea neighborhoods.
As a result of this year’s event Groundwork Denver and volunteers helped save residents $1,087* per year, help reduce CO2 emissions by 48.3* tons per year, and save 28,996* kWh per year!
Once again, thank you to all the volunteers who participated on January 20th and thank you to Gerald Hamel and the former Skyland YMCA for letting use the space at 3540 E 31st Ave to host our pre and post event activities.
*results totals are collective totals for the entire project that day and not per household*
