Groundwork Denver held its second FREE tree planting event on Saturday, April 27th. 45 families along with 15 volunteers met up to receive training on how to plant and take care of fruit and shade trees, while getting to know their neighbors and enjoying some delicious burritos.
After the training, residents received their trees and were divided into groups with fellow residents and volunteers. Once in their groups they went to plant those budding trees. With everyone’s help, Groundwork Denver was able to put more than 55 trees in the ground that afternoon.
Thanks to the efforts of the residents and volunteers next spring in Commerce City will be more colorful as the trees planted go into full bloom and show their stuff!
