Honoring an energy efficiency pioneer

In recognition of Stephen Carpenter’s career in the building energy and resource efficiency field, Group14 Engineering has donated $5,000 to Groundwork Denver’s Greenhouse project (www.GroundworkGreens.org) .  Stephen founded Enermodal Engineering in 1983, and partnered in 1993 with Sue Reilly in Denver to open a local office.  Stephen is a LEED Fellow, and has been an leader in the building energy field internationally.  The donation will support youth job training at Groundwork Greens Community Driven Rooftop Greenhouse. Groundwork Greens is a social enterprise that provides job training for low-income youth while also providing fresh vegetables in the urban environment. Groundwork Greens is located on top of the LEED Gold 2020 Lawrence Street Apartments. Using innovative engineering, the greenhouse is heated and cooled using the exhaust air from the building below. The donation of $5,000 will support over 500 hours of job training for the youth to learn about growing, marketing and distribution of vegetables in this very sustainable setting.

We’re honored to have received this donation in recognition of this pioneer in the field of energy efficiency.
